why lycanthrope?

Lycanthrope refers to Werewolves, based on the Greek word lykos. It's often heard in the form 'lycanthropy', referring to the illness itself.The best representations of werewolves use lycanthropy as an allegory for sexuality, mental illness, chronic illness, or violation of some kind. As a queer non-binary femme person with chronic depression, Evyn found themself in seeing werewolves depicted that way and wanted to bring that into their business.

Lycanthrope Media started as an editing company ran by Evyn Evans, once known as Evans Editing. It was a side gig during and after college to help authors. Over time, their image of what they wanted from the company grew to expand into tabletop roleplay resources. From there, Evans Editing became Lycanthrope Media.

Evyn graduated from Chapman University with a BFA in creative writing and a minor in LGBTQ+ Studies in 2020. They founded this company in 2018 when they began working on their mother's award winning books. They've been playing D&D since 2015 and creating content for D&D since 2021.
